YOUTH EDUCATION
FOR THE YOUNGER CROWD

Young kids

Our Spiritual Sunday School Youth Ed will be honoring the Power of Understanding for the month of July. The disciple for this month is Thomas and the color is dazzling Gold. By exploring Bible and contemporary stories and by creating an awesome Power of the Month Board, we intend to come to an understanding that God is the loving force in and through all things and sees only good for us.

Our youth along with their parents/guardians will be involved in participating in the Green Fair on the Fox at the Batavia Riverwalk on Saturday, August 9, from 9 am to 3 pm. We have a sign-up sheet available downstairs in the Youth Ed area to sign-up for a one to two-hour time slot to help out with a Kid’s “Take-Away” craft (“green” musical instruments…we appreciate Dawn Staszak for this great idea!). To make this a fun and successful event, we would appreciate donations of the following materials by Sunday, August 3:

  • Large plastic containers with lids and rinsed, empty aluminum cans
  • Stickers and/or markers to decorate
  • Construction paper
  • Glue sticks or tape
  • Dried beans
  • Masking tape or duct tape
  • Fun stickers

Also, we have permission slips available for a fun “Dancin’ and Drummin’ Unity Day” to be held on Saturday, August 23, from 1 to 4 pm. This will be a great opportunity for our youth from all groups to get together and express their creativity by moving around and beating to music! With the guidance of Rose Maxson, our “Music Angel”, they will learn a song to sing and to drum along to that they will perform the following day, Sunday, August 24, to the congregation at the beginning of service. We hope that all the youth will be able to participate! Any questions about these events or any other concerns, please ask for Mary downstairs in the Youth area.

Thank you!

STREET MINISTRY

On February 4, 2013 we gathered and stuffed the back packs.   When the packs were assembled they were given to anyone wishing to keep a pack in their home or car.   When you see a person in need, it’s given to them. Trust in divine timing that it will be the right person at the right time. This quiet ministry doesn’t judge or preach. It’s just a gift.

.Love in Action Trip

In late October, nine members of Fox Valley Unity traveled to Chestnut Ridge, West Virginia on a Love in Action outreach trip:  Bob Anthony, Nancy Baker, Tony Gross, Mickey Cowles, Alex Christensen, Perry Hurtt, Rick and Marsha McKay and Rev. Jan.

While serving this community they learned about generational poverty and how the churches in the area, along with World Servants staff and volunteers support the community.

Our team did a build out of bedrooms on the second floor of the community center.  We finished work on a resident’s home, built a flower garden, cleaned up for the harvest party, organized games, made beautiful baskets for the party raffle, baked items for the cakewalk and hung family photos from the community.

Over 100 people attended the harvest party with hayrides, games, dinner, a cake walk and raffle. All the children went home with a blanket and plenty of prizes from the games.   A wonderful time was had by all, including our team!!

World Servants, its staff and volunteers perform God’s transforming work in these communities. We helped some of the residents meet their most basic needs.   Each volunteer who participated was transformed by the opportunity to serve and be served.
